Carroll Demmons of Newcastle was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony burglary and theft for robbing the Camden National Bank on Atlantic Highway on Monday afternoon, police said.
Demmons, 46, was wearing a dark nylon stocking over his face and a floppy hat when he robbed the bank, Police Chief Bill Labombarde said in a statement. The chief said that Demmons robbed the same bank in 2012.
Demmons was being held Tuesday night at the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscassset on $2,500 cash bail. He was arrested at his home on 597 Atlantic Highway in Newcastle after officers from Waldoboro and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant.
Police were able to seize a vehicle, cash and other evidence they say is connected to the bank robbery.
