I’ve been a bit surprised how many comments are still being directed at me since I took part in a tasting panel for the article “We go in search of Greater Portland’s best bagel,” published March 8! I’m as passionate about bagels as much as the next guy/gal, but really?
As a follow-up, the great news is that the state of the bagel in Greater Portland, and beyond, is just fine, thank you very much. More to the point – and I think I “owe” it to them (without knowing it was them) – I’ve been countless times since the article to both Union Bagel (fabulous bagels served by fabulous people) and The Purple House (one word: amazing).
So rest easy, Portland, there are any number of great places for great bagels.
