NAPLES — Fire officials say a barking dog helped save four people from a fire before dying in the blaze early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters say a woman who was in the burning mobile home told them that her dog started barking and woke the occupants, allowing three adults and a child to escape.

The fire was reported around 4:40 a.m. on Pleasant View Road. The cause is under investigation.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office said a 31-year-old man was hospitalized for burns. Officials say the home is a total loss.
