West Gorham Union Church to hold yard and bake sale

The West Gorham Union Church will hold its annual yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 190 Ossipee Trail, Route 25.

Items for sale include home baked goods and housewares.


Friends of Wells Library holding annual book sale

The Friends of Wells Library will hold its annual book sale this weekend at Wells Junior High School on Route 1.

There will be a preview sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with an admission fee of $5 (members free), with the main sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Proceeds support library events and activities.

Soprano, pianist giving concert at church Monday

The First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport will feature a performance by soprano vocalist Liesl Quigley, accompanied by pianist Camille Curtis at 7 p.m. Monday at 141 North St.

Historical society will host talk about Wabanaki tribes

Hiram Historical Society will present a free talk about the Native American Wabanakis of western Maine at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Great Ossipee Museum of Hiram Historical Society, 20 Historical Ridge.

Dr. Joseph Hall of Bates College will explain how Maine’s native Wabanaki tribes cultivated ties to their homeland even as they were displaced from it and how our landscape is described through their place names.

Light refreshments will be served. Donations are appreciated.

Concert in park will feature The Awesome on Thursday

Old Orchard Beach Recreation’s Summer Concerts in the Park series will feature a free performance by The Awesome from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the gazebo at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 5 First St.


Grange invites public to open house Sunday

Highland Lake Grange will host an open house from 2 to 4 pm. Sunday at 9 Hardy Road in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the National Grange.

The event will feature a birthday cake, door prizes, local trivia games, refreshments, tours of the building and a slide show presentation.

A penny drive also will be held, inviting those who wish to donate to bring in their pennies to directly benefit the House in the Woods at Lee, a charitable organization that provides free outdoor retreats for military members and their families.


Historical society will hold annual arts and crafts fair

The Waterborough Historical Society will hold its annual arts and crafts fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Barn at the Taylor/Frey/Leavitt House Museum, 6 Old Alfred Road, Route 5, at Waterboro Center.

There will also be lunch tables and museum tours.
