Portland Press Herald’s @Work brings together job seekers, employers, thought and business leaders, and those looking to continue their career development for an event celebrating employment in Maine.

Attendees will be able to talk directly to over seventy recruiters at the job expo, learn new skills or hone old ones with seminars from USM’s Professional & Continuing Education Department and Heart At Work’s career counselors.

We will also be hosting a free professional headshot station and there will be a chance to win a career counseling session with Heart At Work Associates – a $150 value.

Registration is not required, but you can RSVP to get an email reminder and other business updates from the Press Herald.

Scheduled Seminars

2:00 to 2:45 p.m. — Life Is A Project: How Are You Managing? with author Jim Milliken

Finding time and energy for work, family, friends, and yourself is hard. This workshop will assist you in organizing and practicing the personal behavior and life management skills.

3:00 to 3:45 p.m. — Resumes That Get Results with Mark Cook of Heart At Work Associates

Everyone seems to have an opinion on the best way to write a resume. But few of those opinions are based in the reality of what works in today’s marketplace. This workshop will show you how to create a resume that gets noticed because it shows impact, not just tasks that you’ve done.

4:15 to 5:00 p.m. — LinkedIn: An Essential Tool for Your Job Search with Mark Cook

Whether you already have a job or are unemployed, we recommend a compelling presence on LinkedIn. 97% of hiring managers use LinkedIn for finding talent. This workshop will explain the ten key elements of an effective LinkedIn profile. Bring a laptop and make changes that day.
