The Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce has hired Shawna Chigro-Rogers as executive director.

Chigro-Rogers, who has extensive experience in nonprofit management including the United Way, the National MS Society and the American Red Cross, started in her new post Aug. 21.

“I am very excited to be a part of the Greater Freeport Chamber and to being an active member in our community,” said Chigro-Rogers in a release announcing the appointment. “The towns we serve and our sister communities are great places to live, work and play, and the Greater Freeport Chamber is a valuable resource for businesses, community partners, as well as for current and prospective residents.”

Before moving to Maine, Chigro-Rogers managed marketing and community affairs for Union Bank & Trust and the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club, both in Denver.

Michelle Barker, president of the chamber board, applauded Chigro-Rogers for her background, energy and passion. “We know our chamber will thrive under her direction,” she said.

The chamber supports business in Freeport, Pownal and Durham as well as in neighboring communities.
