CUMBERLAND — You could be excused for pulling over your car to take a look at the blaze next to Route 100 in Cumberland on Thursday night. While the flames were impressive, it was all part of a training exercise for the Cumberland Fire Department.
Trainings like this are common for fire departments, who sometimes set fire to abandoned buildings to work on their firefighting skills.
This fire appeared to use a gas-fed apparatus to give firefighters their practice knocking down flames.
Still, it’s an impressive sight. You might even want to pull off the road and watch the firefighters work.
