“I would send rain on one city, and send no rain on another city: one field would be rained upon, and the field on which it did not rain withered”. Amos 4:7b

Weathering the Storms

“Someone once facetiously remarked that “Everyone complains about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it.” The meteorologists predict the weather and we prepare accordingly. We get socked with heat waves, hurricanes, snow, ice and hailstorms, and occasionally a tornado rips through parts of the country unannounced. It seems incredible that of all the advances that have been made in the history of the world, mankind has never been able to control the weather. It is the one unconquerable thing. Could it be that when God created the world he decided to retain this one power to remind us that that we are not always in control as the people in Texas learned this past week? And it is not over yet. Hurricane Irma is bearing down on the Caribbean Islands, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. One thing we can do is pray for those who are homeless, pray that no lives will be lost and people will be able to find shelter from the storm. The weather will change. It always does. God is in his heaven and he is in charge.
