SACO — The Thornton Academy boys cross country team placed second in a meet against visiting Biddeford, Bonny Eagle, Gorham, Scarborough and Westbrook.

Bonny Eagle won the boys meet with 56 points. TA was second with 60, while Scarborough finished with 66 and Biddeford had 80. Gorham (91) and Westbrook (167) rounded out the team race.

Aiden Willey won the race to the finish line as the Bonny Eagle standout clocked a 16:40 run.

Gorham’s Anthony Chase finished second just eight seconds behind Willey and Scarborough’s Harrison Osborn was third at 16:51.

TA was led by Landon Heldrich’s fourth-place finish with a time of 16:52 and teammate Jackson Pierce finished fifth with a time of 17:02. 

Biddeford’s Sam Mills crossed the line in 17:09 as he finished in sixth place.

Rounding out the top 10 were Scarborough Luke Grover, TA’s Dawson Desrosiers, Scarborough’s Tristan Coffin and Bonny Eagle’s Anthony Breton.

In the girls’ race, Gorham won the meet with a score of 40. Bonny Eagle was second with 43 and Westbrook was third with 72. Scarborough (79) was fourth with Thornton (137) fifth and Biddeford (140) sixth. Maine Girls Academy rounded out the field wikth a score of 217.

Bonny Eagle’s Ami Beaumier won the race with a time of 19:07. Scarborough’s Bethany Sholl was second as she finished five seconds later.

The Scots got a third-place finish from Kayla Raymond and a fourth-place finish from Christine Toy.

Gorham’s Iris Kitchen rounded out the top five in the girls meet. Biddeford was led by Leia Dorais’ ninth-place finish. TA’s top finisher was Renee Dostal who crossed the line in 18th.
