BUXTON — John E. Maxson, 50, of Buxton, passed away Wednesday evening on Sept. 27, 2017, at home surrounded by his family.

John  was born in Biddeford on Nov. 4, 1966, a son of Edward and Reinette (Labarre) Maxson. He was a graduate of Biddeford High School, Class of 1985.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.

John served his country in the U.S. Army. After retiring from the service, John was proprietor of Levoyaguer Trading in Buxton where he specialized in military memorabilia and historical reproductions.

He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus; president of Societe de St. Jean Baptiste de Bienfaisance from 2009-2017; chairman of La Fete du Printemps from 2011-2012 and chairman of Biddeford Winter Fest from 2011-2015. John was an active member of the Pequawket Alliance, a historical reenactment group.

John was an avid bird hunter and loved going up to camp.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his aunt, Gloriette.

He is survived by: his mother, Reinette; his wife of 16 years, Rosemarie (Wagner) Maxson; stepdaughter, Jessica Lee; uncle, Rev. Renald D. Labarre; and cousin, Michelle DiSotto, her husband, Chris, and their children, Jack and Gianna.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford. To view John’s memorial page or leave an online condolence, please visit www.cotefuneralhome.com.
