SACO — State Troopers and Saco police are investigating a shooting that took place in the city early Saturday morning that resulted in the death of a New Hampshire man.

Michael Burns, 53, of Rochester, New Hampshire, was shot at the front porch of a home at 26 Nye St. shortly before 1:30 a.m., said Maine Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland in a press release.

The assailant who shot Burns called police and reported the incident, said McCausland, who did not identify the shooter.

There were two other people inside the house at the time of the shooting, according to McCausland.

Detectives are attempting to determine the circumstances of the shooting and McCausland said that there is no threat to the public.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
