PORTLAND –  Maine State  Police are looking for a Hollis man this morning in connection with a
domestic violence assault Sunday night after determining he was not holed up in a Portland motel, as they had originally suspected.

Vincent Teruel, 40, had  checked himself
into a room at Motel 6 in Portland on Sunday, but was not in the room when
police entered it late Monday night, said Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.

Anyone having information on
his location is asked to call Maine State Police in Gray at 657-3030.

Police had
evacuated the entire fourth floors of the motel and most of the third
floor as a precaution before discovering he was not there

Nearly
three dozen residents of the motel were allowed to return to their rooms
after troopers found that Teruel’s room was vacant.

Police suspected that Teruel
might be armed, which was one of the reason’s the motel was evacuated,
but the gun was found late Monday night at another location.
