KENNEBUNK — Habitat for Humanity of York County has received a grant from the Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution to assist with their 28th home-building project.

The $5,000 grant will help Habitat for Humanity York County build an accessible, affordable home in Wells, in partnership with the future owners, the Carter Family. The home will include accessible design features to meet the needs of the family’s oldest son.

“Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution has supported Habitat for many years. We are so appreciative of their help with the Wells Build.” said Amy D. Nucci, Habitat for Humanity of York County’s Executive Director. “The Carter family will be able to care for their son without housing barriers such as entry stairways, narrow doorways, and an inaccessible bathrooms.”

SBSI officials were happy to make the grant.

“Partnering with an organization like Habitat for Humanity whose mission is to use love to create action is a perfect fit for SBSI where we believe we are in it together as we strive to support our communities and community members with our time, energy and resources,” said SBSI Senior Vice President, Mark Jones.
