Well, the gun lobby has mostly remained silent on the vast tragedy of the Las Vegas shooting, but Erich Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, says, “We cannot blame gun owners, the gun itself or the liberties of the Second Amendment for how evil people abuse that freedom.”

I am assuming that Mr. Pratt and the other gun lobbyists know that, in the United States, we are 25 times more likely to be shot and killed than are citizens of 22 other high-income countries. (They all have much stricter gun laws than we do.) The logical conclusion I can make from Mr. Pratt’s comments is that he thinks the United States must have 25 times the number of evil people than these other countries.

How else can we explain the discrepancy of statistics? He rules out everything else.

Huh?
