LEWISTON — Emma Patterson redirected a pass by Taylor Lough past Tufts goalie Emily Polinski in the 12th minute, and Bates got its second straight win over a top-10 team, defeating the No. 5 Jumbos 1-0 in a NESCAC field hockey game Saturday.

It was the third consecutive win overall for the Bobcats (6-5, 3-4), who got a 2-1 overtime win against second-ranked Babson on Tuesday.

Adelae Durand stopped two shots for Bates. Polinski finished with one save for Tufts (8-4, 6-2).

COLBY 1, AMHERST 0: Myri Skodock scored in the seventh minute and the Mules (9-3, 4-3 NESCAC) won their fourth straight, defeating the Mammoths (8-3, 4-3) in a tight game at Waterville.

Skodock took a long pass from Georgia Cassidy, turned and fired a low shot past keeper Emilie Flamme at 6:44.

Riley Whitmyer stopped five shots for the shutout. Flamme made four saves.

HAMILTON 2, BOWDOIN 1: Michaela Giuttari scored two first-half goals to lead Hamilton (8-5, 5-4 NESCAC) in a win over the Polar Bears (6-5, 3-4) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin broke through following a flurry of corners in the final 10 minutes. Kara Finnerty deflected in a shot by Juliana Fiore to cut Hamilton’s lead in half.

UNE 4, WESTERN NEW ENGAND 0: Hannah Buckley had a goal in each half to lead the University of New England (12-4, 8-1 Commonwealth Coast) past the Golden Bears (6-7, 4-5) at Biddeford for its fifth straight win.

Buckley opened the scoring at 5:25 off a feed from Vonde Saunders. Kendra MacDonald scored at 11:14 for a 2-0 halftime lead.

Brooke Lemerise and Buckley added second-half tallies.

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, SIMMONS 1: Kara Kelly scored in the first half, Libby Pomerleau added a goal in the second and the Monks (10-4, 5-1 GNAC) held off Simmons (9-5, 5-1) at Boston for their eighth win in nine games.

Kelly scored off a scrum midway through the first.

Pomerleau made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute, two minutes before Meghan Fontaine deflected in a shot for Simmons.

USM 6, FRAMINGHAM STATE 1: Lindsay Jackson scored in the 3rd minute and Southern Maine (5-11, 4-6 Little East) rolled, getting goals from six players in a win over the Rams (3-12, 1-9) at Gorham.

Kaylee Leclerc and Brooke Duke added first-half goals for the Huskies before Sydney Buono got Framingham on the board in the 26th minute.

Tayla Smedberg, Kerigan Demers and Olivia Brown scored in the second half.

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 1: Haley DaGraca scored twice in the second half to rally the Monks (10-4-1, 6-3-1) past the Falcons at New Haven Connecticut.

Angelina Piccirillo scored in the first half for Albertus Magnus (4-6-1, 3-5-1 GNAC).

Brooke Troup made seven saves for St. Joseph’s.

UNE 2, SALVE REGINA 2: Abby McMackin scored twice in the last three minutes of regulation as the Seahawks (4-8-3, 1-3-2 CCC) rallied to tie the Nor’easters (6-7-2, 1-4-1) at Newport, Rhode Island.

Sydney Littlefield and Katie Beaudoin scored for UNE.

Emily Ashman made 15 saves for the Nor’easters.

UM-MACHIAS 1, SMCC 0: Josie Griffin slipped the ball past Southern Maine CC goalie Shae Couture midway through the second half, providing UM-Machias (7-5-1, 5-2-1) with the winning margin at South Portland.

Aisling Farragher-Gemma kept the Seawolves (5-5-1, 3-3-1) at bay with 10 saves.

AMHERST 1, COLBY 0: Mia Bongiorno scored with 45 seconds left in the first half to give the Mammoths (6-5-1, 2-4-1 NESCAC) the edge on the Mules (4-6-2, 0-6-1 NESCAC) at Waterville.

Chelsea Cutler made one save for the shutout. Shannon Gray stopped 10 shots for Colby.

PLYMOUTH STATE 3, USM 2: Caitlin Catania had a goal and an assist to lead the Panthers (6-6, 1-4 Little East) past the Huskies (2-11, 0-5) at Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Sofia Karlsson’s goal in the 37th minute started the scoring and put Plymouth ahead to stay.Sabrina Sweeney also scored for the Panthers.

Olivia Mull and Abigail Mazza scored for USM.

TUFTS 3, BATES 0: Elizabeth Reed had a pair of second-half goals to help the Jumbos (7-2-3, 5-1-2 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (6-5-1, 2-4-1) at Lewiston.

HOCKEY

MAINE 5, ROBERT MORRIS 2: Tereza Vanisova had two goals and two assists to help the Black Bears (4-2) beat the Colonials (3-1) at Orono.

Brooke Stacey had two goals and an assist for Maine, while Daria Tereshkina added a goal and a pair of assists.

Loryn Porter stopped 38 shots for the Black Bears.
