LEWISTON — Taylor Lough deflected in a bouncing ball with 4 minutes remaining to give Bates a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Amherst in a NESCAC field hockey game on Sunday, the Bobcats’ third straight win over a nationally ranked top-10 team.

The winning play started with an entry pass from Grace Fitzgerald to Adah Lindquist, who topped the ball towards Mammoths goalie Katie Savage.

Amherst (8-4, 4-4) outshot Bates 16-7 and had a 13-1 advantage in penalty corners. The Bobcats (7-5, 4-4) converted their only shot on goal. Adelae Durand made two saves for her second shutout in as many days.

Bates beat No. 2 Babson 2-1 on Tuesday and No. 5 Tufts 1-0 onSaturday.

BOWDOIN 2, COLBY 1: Sarah Jane Weill and Maggie Ford scored first-half goals, and the Polar Bears (7-5, 4-4) snapped a three-game losing streak with a win against Colby (9-4, 4-4) at Brunswick.

The Mules made it a one goal game 8:23 into the second half when Lauren Walter scored on her own rebound.

MEN’S SOCCER

ST. JOSEPH’S 3, MAINE MARITIME 0: Noah Elmore had a goal and an assist as the Monks (13-0-1) scored three times in the first half and extended their season-long scoreless streak with a shutout of the Mariners (2-8-3) at Castine.

Mitchell Duncan and Jesse Ramirez also scored for St. Joseph’s, which won its ninth straight. Trevor Lopez and Quinn Hewitt recorded assists, while goalies Blake Mullen and David Walbridge went untested.

SALVE REGINA 3, UNE 2: Donald Igo scored twice in the second half to bring the Seahawks (9-3-3, 3-2-1 Commonwealth Coast) back from a 2-1 deficit against the University of New England (2-13, 1-5) at Middletown, Rhode Island.

Salve Regina opened a 1-0 lead on a goal by Conor Woods before Lee Esposito countered for the Nor’easters with a pair of first-half goals 1:28 apart.

AMHERST 2, BATES 1: Aziz Khan scored a tiebreaking goal midway through the second half to send Amherst (7-2-2, 4-2-2 NESCAC) past the Bobcats (5-5-2, 1-5-2) at Lewiston.

Beaufils Kimpolo-Pene scored for Bates 26 minutes into the game. Kieran Bellew tied the match five minutes later.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

ALBANY 4, MAINE 1: Mariah Williams scored three goals to lead the Great Danes (5-10-1, 3-3-1) to an America East win against Maine (4-8-1, 2-3) at Albany, New York.

Priscilla Domingo scored off a Mikayla Morin free kick for the Black Bears.

BOWDOIN 3, COLBY 0: Brigit Bergin scored twice to lead the Polar Bears (8-4-1, 3-4-1) to a NESCAC win over Colby (4-7-2, 0-7-1) at Brunswick.

Morgan Gallagher also had a goal for Bowdoin.

AMHERST 2, BATES 1: Hannah Guzzi scored the tying goal with 4:35 remaining, then got the winner 5:48 into overtime to lift Amherst (7-5-1, 3-4-1 NESCAC) over the Bobcats (6-6-1, 2-5-1) at Lewiston.

Sarah DiPillo had put Bates ahead 6 minutes into the second half.
