Health officials will discuss breast cancer treatment

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a team of medical experts from Southern Maine Health Care’s Center for Breast Care will participate in a panel discussion about new advances in breast cancer treatment and reconstruction options from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the second-floor classrooms at 1 Medical Center Drive.

Supper will be provided.

Brick Store Museum walk includes stop at cemetery

The Brick Store Museum will host its 14th annual All Souls’ Walk on Saturday, featuring a series of tours beginning at noon, with the final tour departing at 3 p.m. from the museum at 117 Main St.

The walks begin at the museum and include a narrated tour with costumed interpreters. Participants will go through Hope Cemetery to visit the graves and hear the tales of Kennebunk residents from the past three centuries.

The cost is $10 per person and $30 per family. Reservations are requested for large groups.

Wells Junior High School drama students will perform the play “The Redemption of Gertie Greene” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday in the school’s Ward gymnasium, located on Route 1.

Fine arts event showcases work of local craftswomen

The first Designing Women Fine Art & Crafts show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Wells Activity Center, at 113 Sanford Road.

More than 20 local artisans and craftswomen will exhibit handcrafted jewelry, paintings, children’s clothing, handbags, pottery, weaving, personal care products and more at the juried show.

Library’s Halloween event includes 3-course meal

The Wells Public Library’s second annual Halloween benefit will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Jonathan’s Restaurant, at Bourne Lane and Route 1.

The event includes a three-course meal and the music of the Blue Note Big Band. Costumes are encouraged, with themed judging for “anything goes” or “Hollywood.”

Tickets are $48 per person, available at the Wells Public Library at 1434 Post Road.

Proceeds go toward the expansion of the library’s meeting room.

Handmade items, jewelry to be sold at parish fair

The St. Therese of Lisieux annual parish fair will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at the St. Ignatius gymnasium on Riverside Avenue.

The event will include sales of handmade items, locally grown food and preserves, jewelry and Christmas decorations. Children’s activities, raffles and drawings for prizes will be offered. Proceeds are to benefit the Parish Capital Improvements and heating expenses.

Fall, winter programs include pickleball, dancing

The Sanford Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations for fall and winter programs.

Those will include pickleball for ages 50 and older, volleyball, a Boston trip, 5K and 10K road races, a dog jog, basketball, line dancing, a Dance with the Stars event, skiing and snowboarding.
