Eleven years ago, when Justin Costa called me, I didn’t know who he was. He asked me to donate some time to a campaign, work some phones, enter data. I said “yes.”

Since then, I have seen his dedication as a member of Portland’s school board. I have seen him work tirelessly on the City Council. His financial background and leadership in budget decisions have been invaluable.

As a councilor, he has responded to my calls and concerns. He’s a listener, a representative not only of the people in his district but also of all Portland residents. I’ve attended council meetings and observed his insightful questions and comments. His decisions are based on what he considers good for Portland, not on trends or emotion. We need that rational stability in the present political climate more than ever.

I urge voters to return Justin Costa to the City Council from District 4.
