Only one candidate in the at-large Portland City Council race can back up claims they have taken no money from real estate developers, special interest groups or out-of-state donors. We should be so lucky to have a candidate like Joey Brunelle, who has shown he listens to people, not moneyed special interests, when deciding for the citizens of Portland.
He, more than any other candidate in this race, has shown a commitment to a clean election untainted by out-of-state money. I believe many of the problems in politics today can be traced back to dirty money, and one of the biggest reasons I support Joey is his mission to extend the very successful state Clean Election program to the local level.
I hope future candidates will follow his example, and I encourage fellow Portland citizens to vote for Joey Brunelle for the at-large seat on the Portland City Council.
