Maine Question 1 is not really about a casino in York County. It really is about whether or not the voters will allow “a certain (out of state) company” a gambling license worth up to $200 million at a cost of only about $9 million.

Why should this money go to this out-of-state company instead of us? The taxpayers of Massachusetts, where they had competitive bidding, got a total of $170 million for two casino licenses. Why can’t we?

This question is a bad deal for us.

Please join us in voting “no” Nov. 7.
