I represent Maine House District 36, which includes part of Portland City Council District 5. I enthusiastically endorse Marpheen Chann for the District 5 seat on the council.

Marpheen comes with a level of experience beyond that of most people his age. Not only has he been active in the Portland community as an LGBT and immigrant rights advocate, but he also brings to the table life experiences that will be an asset to the council.

Marpheen has a deep understanding of the issues Portland faces. He recognizes that Portland is increasingly unaffordable for seniors and retirees, many of whom have lived and worked here their entire lives and wish nothing more than to spend their retirement years in the peace and comfort of their own home and community.

Marpheen understands this, and that’s one of the reasons why I support this young, thoughtful and intelligent man for City Council District 5.
