At-large Portland City Councilor Jill Duson’s commitment to equity in education runs deep.

A product of the civil rights movement, Jill was bused to an all-white school as a child during efforts to desegregate it. Through her participation in TRIO Upward Bound, she earned her bachelor’s degree and a degree in law.

Jill carries these experiences with her and has been a fierce advocate for equal access to a quality education during her time on the council, and previously when she served on the school board. She believes to her core that regardless of a student’s background, they should be given every opportunity to succeed in our city’s schools. She is about action, not just talk.

As a school board member, I am excited to support Jill for re-election. If you are also committed to providing a strong education system for Portland, I hope you will join me in voting for Jill on Nov. 7.
