Mark Marsters, a benefits insurance executive with more than 30 years of industry leadership, has been named president and CEO of Custom Disability Solutions, the company said Tuesday.

Based in South Portland, Custom Disability Solutions specializes in group disability reinsurance services and employs about 140, according to its website. It is a division of Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co., which is owned by Japanese property and casualty insurer Tokio Marine Holdings Inc.

Marsters has spent a long career in the employee benefits industry, most recently as senior vice president of operations at Cigna Group Insurance, according to a news release. While at Cigna he oversaw an organization of more than 2,500 employees, driving noteworthy growth, service and quality for 10 consecutive years, it said.

Prior to Cigna, Marsters began his career with Union Mutual (now Unum) in Portland, serving escalating management roles in disability claims operations, contracts and underwriting.
