TOPSHAM — Russell L. “Rusty” Rancourt Jr., age 75 of Topsham, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Mid Coast Hospital.

He was born in Augusta, ME on September 23, 1942, the son of Russell L. and Gertrude (Carrier) Rancourt, Sr. He attended local schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1960.

Rusty was always in the grocery business. In 1971 he purchased a store from Pete Lamarre in Topsham which became known as Rusty’s Store. He owned and operated the store for over 40 years.

He attended both St. John’s and St. Charles Church, was a former member of the Elks Lodge, and was a member of the Brunswick Golf Course. Rusty also loved horse racing and owned horses of his own throughout the years.

He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is predeceased by a son, Gregory S. Rancourt.

He leaves behind the love of his life of 30 years, Kathleen Bonang of Topsham; his sons, Ryan Rancourt of Wiscasset, John Bonang and the love of his life, Kristina Cossar of Topsham, and Ryan Bonang and his wife, Jessica of Rockford, Ill; his daughters, Laurie Hardy and her husband, Jerry of Topsham, and Vanessa Schutte and her husband, Frank of Wiscassett; his sister, Donna Tucci and husband, Joseph of Bayville, NJ; his godson, Joshua Tucci of Bayville, NJ; and six grandchildren, Russell and wife, Ashley, Nicholas, Gage, Benjamin, Camden and Blake.

A celebration of Rusty’s Life will be held from 4 to 6:30PM Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, where a memorial service will follow at 6:30PM.
