LANDOVER, Md. — Georgetown pulled away in the final 10 minutes Tuesday night to defeat Maine 76-55 in the first meeting of the men’s college basketball programs.

The Hoyas (5-0) led by 14 points at halftime but couldn’t put away the pesky Black Bears (1-6), who remained within 12 points with 10 minutes to play.

But Georgetown continued to assert itself inside and went on the run that settled it.

Aaron Calixte scored 17 points for Maine, which needed to hit from long range to have a chance, but couldn’t. The Black Bears made 4 of 23 3-pointers.

(2) KANSAS 96, TOLEDO 58: Devonte Graham scored a career-high 35 points, Malik Newman added 17 and Kansas (6-0) ran roughshod over Toledo (3-3) at Lawrence, Kansas, to extend the Jayhawks’ best start in seven years.

Svi Mykhailiuk hit five 3-pointers and added 15 points for Kansas, which built a 59-30 lead by halftime and pushed the advantage to more than 50 points before coasting down the stretch.

(8) WICHITA STATE 112, SAVANNAH STATE 66: Samajae Haynes-Jones scored a season-high 31 points to lead Wichita State (5-1) past Savannah State (2-6) at home.

Five other Shockers scored in double figures against the fast-paced Tigers. Their leading scorer, Landry Shamet, didn’t play in the second half after re-injuring his right ankle.

(21) XAVIER 76, (16) BAYLOR 63: J.P. Macura scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half as Xavier (6-1) surged ahead to stay against Baylor (5-1) at Cincinnati.

The Musketeers recovered from their first loss – against Arizona State – by controlling the boards and putting together decisive runs in each half. They never trailed after an opening 21-8 spurt.

PURDUE 66, LOUISVILLE 57: Vince Edwards scored 15 points, and Carsen Edwards and Dakota Mathias spurred a late run to send Purdue (6-2) past Louisville (4-1) at West Lafayette, Indiana.

BOWDOIN 94, SOUTHERN MAINE 53: Abby Kelly knocked down a pair of 3-pointers as the Polar Bears (5-0) spanned the end of the first quarter and beginning of the second with an 19-2 run that opened a 33-11 lead with 5:30 left in the first half against Southern Maine (0-6) atGorham.

Bowdoin got two 3-pointers from Hannah Graham while scoring the first 24 points of the second half to stretch the margin to 67-22. The lead reached 51 in the fourth quarter.

(1) CONNECTICUT 88, NEVADA 57: Kia Nurse scored 27 points, hitting all eight of her 3-point attempts, and Gabby Williams added 18 points to help UConn (6-0) beat Nevada (3-3) at Reno, Nevada.

(10) OREGON 87, HAMPTON 45: Oti Gildon had career highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Satou Sabally added 18 points to help Oregon (6-1) roll over Hampton (2-4) at Eugene, Oregon.

(18) TEXAS A&M 98, PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 70: Khaalia Hillsman had 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds to help Texas A&M (5-1) beat Prairie View A&M (2-4) at College Station, Texas.

(23) MARQUETTE 92, LOYOLA-CHICAGO 30: Amani Wilborn had 19 points and nine rebounds, and Marquette (3-2) used a 28-1 second quarter to beat Loyola-Chicago (0-5) at Milwaukee.
