GARDINER (AP) — Officials in the Maine city of Gardiner say a building that housed a cider business will be auctioned off next month.

The Kennebec Journal reports a public real estate auction for the Lost Orchard Brewing is scheduled for Dec. 20. Company president David Boucher bought the property in order to establish a tasting room and a place to make small batches of hard cider. Boucher said the company had encountered financial problems while speaking at a city council meeting earlier this year.

The property had been a vacant church before Boucher purchased it. City officials say the new owner will have to follow guidelines set by the Adaptive Reuse Overlay District created for the property.
