BRUNSWICK — Gloria (Savage) Murphy passed away 25 November after losing her battle with kidney failure.

She was born 19 May 1941 in Lincoln, Maine to Mildred and Kenneth Savage. She attended Lincoln schools graduating from Mattanawcook Academy. Gloria attended and got her degree from the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Waterville.

Gloria was nursing at Mount Desert Island Hospital when she met and married Raymond Murphy. They traveled and she was able to work in various parts of the world, (FL, VA, CA, SC, RI, ME, Scotland, and Azores) during his naval career.

Gloria had three children, Lisa, Joseph and Gretchen. Gloria enjoyed being with the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and volunteering at the Red Cross, Church, etc.

Gloria was predeceased by her son, Joseph Murphy and her father, Kenneth Savage.

She leaves behind her husband,

Raymond; children, Lisa Murphy-Maxwell, Gretchen Cucchi (husband Mark); grandchildren, Ashleigh Benner, Kayla Hancock, Theodore Murphy, Kimberly Murphy, and Zachary Maxwell; great grandchildren, Ava Hancock, Alexia Hancock, Abigail Hancock, Elizabeth Benner, and Jaxson Maxwell. She also leaves behind her mother, Mildred Savage, brother, Richard Savage and daughter-in-law, Rose Murphy.

A funeral service will be held at 10AM Tuesday, November 28 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located at 27 Pleasant Street, Brunswick. Burial will be private at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016. Arrangements are in the care of Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
