Cheech and Chong, whose pot-infused humor rocketed the comedy duo to fame in the ’70s, gave a social media boost to a Maine-based Facebook post that touts the calming effects of medical marijuana in managing a young boy’s seizures.

The Bangor Daily News reported that an apparent Facebook post by Standish Town Councilor Peter Starostecki was picked up and shared by the comedy team, capturing 13 million views. The post shows a boy having a seizure who appears to calm down after a substance is rubbed on his gums.

The Lakes Region Weekly reported that Starostecki has a young son who uses medical marijuana. In his original post, he said that the family moved to Maine because medical marijuana is legal here, and that his son uses medical marijuana twice a day to help control seizures.
