DARCIE MOORE has been named Senior Staff Writer at The Times Record.

BRUNSWICK

Longtime Times Record reporter Darcie Moore has been promoted to the new position of senior staff writer at the paper, effective today.

As part of her promotion, Moore will take over the Brunswick/Freeport beat, which also includes coverage of Brunswick Landing, Bowdoin College, L.L. Bean, the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, Brunswick schools and Regional School Unit 5.

Previously, Moore covered Topsham, Lisbon, Bowdoin and Bowdoinham, among other Sagadahoc County communities, in addition to being the primary public safety reporter.

“Darcie’s connection to and knowledge of the Midcoast community has been invaluable,” said Times Record Executive Editor John Swinconeck. “That, coupled with her tenacity and dedication, made her the obvious choice for one of our most important beats.”

A University of Maine at Farmington graduate, Moore started her journalism career as an intern in 2003, and became a full fledged member of the newsroom within a couple of months.

“I like how every day is different, and that it’s fastpaced,” said Moore, regarding her work in the Times Record newsroom. “You never know what the next day is going to bring.”

Moore, a Maine native and Topsham resident, is a graduate of Mt. Ararat High School.

When not covering municipal and school board meetings, fires, car crashes, robberies, school assemblies, community gatherings, festivals, business openings, court proceedings and a myriad of other happenings, she enjoys trips to the ocean with her dog, Ruby — the unofficial Times Record mascot.

She can be reached at (207) 504-8238 or dmoore@timesrecord.com.
