PORTLAND — At-large City Councilor Jill Duson for the second time is running for the state Senate District 28 seat.
Duson was defeated by Sen. Mark Dion in the Democratic primary for the seat in 2016. Dion is now a candidate for governor.
If elected, Duson said she plans to continue to serve on the City Council, where she won a sixth term in November.
State Rep. Heather Sanborn, D-Portland, who succeeded Dion in House District 43, last month announced she is also a candidate to replace Dion in the Senate.
Senate District 28 is comprised of northern and western sections of Portland and a portion of Westbrook.
