HALLOWELL — Phil Tarling scored three goals, two on power plays, to help Cape Elizabeth collect a 7-1 victory against Gardiner in a boys’ hockey game Wednesday night.

After Cam Bigelow of Gardiner (0-4) scored the first goal, the Capers (8-0) responded with three goals before the end of the first period, two by Tarling and another by Jackson Woods.

Ryan Collins and Andrew Carroll scored second-period goals for Cape Elizabeth, and Tarling and Carroll added goals in the third.

Quinn Veregge had 42 saves for the Tigers. Peter Haber stopped 12 shots for Cape Elizabeth.

KENNEBUNK 4, MARSHWOOD 1: Dean Church scored twice to lead Kennebunk-Wells (2-4) past Marshwood-Traip Academy-Sanford-Noble (2-5) at Biddeford.

After Zachary Brown put Kennebunk ahead 1-0, Chase Stanley tied it before the end of the first period.

Church scored twice in the third and Christian Putnam added a late goal.

Ethan Hammond recorded 26 saves for Marshwood. Indigo Looper stopped 13 shots for Kennebunk.

POLAND 3, BRUNSWICK 2: Connor Cyr scored with 51.9 seconds to play in regulation as Poland-Gray-New Gloucester-Oak Hill-Leavitt (6-2) edged Brunswick (3-6) at Auburn.

Ludwig Anderhead scored to give Poland the early lead, but Aiden Snell answered from Andrew Eno with 1:02 to go in the first period.

Anderhead scored to give the Knights a 2-1 lead through two periods.

Snell tied the game for Brunswick unassisted after three minutes of the third.

ST. DOMINIC 8, FALMOUTH 0: Avery Lutryzkowski scored six goals as the Saints (8-2) cruised past the Yachtsmen (3-6) at Auburn.

St. Dom’s scored two early power- play goals and led 3-0 after the first period behind two scores by Lutryzkowski and a goal by Katya Fons.

Lutrzykowski added three goals in the second period and another in the third.

Emma Theriault recorded six assists for the Saints.

PORTLAND-DEERING 5, WINSLOW 2: Emily Demers scored three goals to lead Portland/Deering (9-3) over the Black Raiders (7-4-1) at Portland.

Caroline Lerch and Emma Merrill also scored for Portland-Deering.

Sarah Stevens and Anna Chadwick answered for Winslow.

Cassie Demers recorded 40 saves for Winslow. Adrianna Bodge stopped 20 shots for Portland-Deering.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

RICHMOND 68, DIRIGO 62: Zach Small scored 32 points to lead the Bobcats (8-2) over Dirigo (6-4) at Richmond.

Matt Rines had 18 points and four steals, and Casey Gorman scored eight points with 10 rebounds for the Bobcats. Danny Stewart added 13 rebounds.

Cooper Chiasson led the Cougars with 23 points. Jeremy St. Germain added 12.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

BUCKFIELD 34, KENTS HILL 32: Katie Henderson scored 13 points to lead the Bucks (1-8) past Kents Hill (4-2) at Buckfield.

Hannah Shields added seven points for Buckfield.

Jarni Hewins scored 10 points for the Huskies.
