NAPLES — Tristen Chaine scored 14 points Thursday night as Lake Region pulled away to a 58-43 victory against Cape Elizabeth in a Western Maine Conference boys’ basketball game.
The Lakers (5-5) led 25-17 at halftime, then went on a 20-13 run in the third quarter to make it 45-30.
Andrew Hartel led Cape Elizabeth (7-2) with 16 points.
SCARBOROUGH 56, GORHAM 50: Brian Austin hit two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Scarborough (8-2) pull away from visiting Gorham (4-5).
Reece Lagerquist scored all four of his points in the fourth quarter as Scarborough broke away from a 42-42 tie through three quarters.
Nick Fiorillo led Scarborough with 20 points.
Jordan Bretton scored 13 for the Rams, Nick Strout had 12 and Tyler Haines 11.
CHEVERUS 53, DEERING 52: Matt Duchaine scored 21 points and made the winning free throw with three seconds remaining to lift the Stags (4-6) over the visiting Rams (5-5) at Portland.
Trailing 24-16 at the half, Deering outscored Cheverus 22-11 in the third quarter to take a 38-35 lead. Cheverus made it 52-52 with a minute left, then came up with a defensive stop and Duchaine was fouled before hitting the winning free throw.
Owen Burke added 21 points for Cheverus.
FALMOUTH 50, MASSABESIC 45: Jack Bryant scored 13 points for the Yachtsmen (5-6), who rallied to defeat the Mustangs (2-7) at Waterboro.
Falmouth scored 29 points from the field and connected on 21 of 30 foul shots. Alex Marcotte added 12 points on four 3-pointers.
Isaac DesVergnes led Massabesic with 13 points and five steals.
WESTBROOK 41, BIDDEFORD 33: Zac Manoogian scored 11 points for the Blue Blazes (5-4), who used a 12-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Tigers (5-3) at Westbrook.
Jeremiah Alado added nine for Westbrook, which led 29-27 heading into the fourth.
DeSean Cromwell scored 11 points for Biddeford.
YARMOUTH 46, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 35: Johnny Torres scored 19 points to help the Clippers (7-3) rally past the Patriots (5-4) at Gray.
Noah Eckersley-Ray added eight points for Yarmouth, which closed with a 25-7 run after trailing 28-21 midway through the third quarter.
John Martin had 11 points, including three of the Patriots’ seven 3-pointers.
BRUNSWICK 61, LEAVITT 43: Colby Bucknam had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Dragons (7-3) over the Hornets (4-5) at Brunswick.
Jacob Lamoreaux scored all 10 of his points in the second quarter as Brunswick went on a 20-9 run for a 36-19 halftime lead.
Cole Morin scored 19 points for Leavitt.
CAMDEN HILLS 80, MT. ARARAT 79: Noah Heidorn scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, and Daniel Peabody finished with 14 as the Windjammers (6-3) held off the Eagles (3-7) at Rockport.
TRAIP ACADEMY 79, SACOPEE VALLEY 37: Charlie Driscoll and Will Stuart each scored 20 points for the Rangers (5-6), who went on a 46-7 run through the second and third quarters to beat the Hawks (0-7) at Kittery.
Edoardo Spinoglio added 11 for Traip, which led 63-26 heading into the fourth.
BONNY EAGLE 47, THORNTON ACADEMY 44: Zach Maturo scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half as the Scots (4-4) rallied to beat the Trojans (4-4) at Saco.
The Scots trailed by three at halftime, then outscored the Trojans 13-5 in the third quarter to take a 38-33 lead.
WAYNFLETE 54, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 36: Asker Hussein, who hit a pair of 3-pointers during an opening 14-5 run, scored 10 points in the first half and Christian Brooks added nine as the Flyers (6-3) took a 28-13 lead against the Seagulls (2-5) at Old Orchard Beach.
Brooks finished with 15 points, Hussein 12 and Finn Scott 10 for Waynflete. Ian Regan led Old Orchard with 12.
WINDHAM 76, SANFORD 50: Nick Curtis scored 12 of his 32 points in the first quarter, driving the Eagles (8-2) to a 20-11 lead against Sanford (1-8) at Windham.
Windham expanded the lead to 14 points by the half.
WELLS 70, POLAND 44: Cam Cousins scored eight points and Matt Sherburne added seven as the Warriors (6-3) opened a 23-12 first-quarter lead over Poland (0-7) at Wells.
Sherburne finished with 14 points and four steals, Cousins had 13 points and nine rebounds, Tyler Bridge added 12 points and Channing Wang 11.
Isaiah Hill led the Knights with 13 points.
GREELY 64, FREEPORT 50: Logan Bagshaw hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points to lead the Rangers (9-0) over the Falcons (5-3) at Freeport.
Zach Brown added 16 points, hitting three 3-pointers for Greely, which led 18-9 after the first quarter.
MARSHWOOD 52, NOBLE 29: Brandon Libby scored 14 points and Ian Bryant added 13 as the Hawks (3-7) beat the Knights (1-8) at South Berwick.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 41, LINCOLN ACADEMY 29: The Panthers (5-4) used a 25-13 run in the second half to defeat the Eagles (0-9) at Waldoboro.

LEWISTON 5, CHEVERUS 1: Dustin LaRochelle scored twice and Jack LeBlond had three assists as the Blue Devils (8-0) surged past the Stags (3-2-1) at Portland.
Michael Hatch scored late in the second period for Cheverus from Justin Ray and John McCauley.
YARMOUTH 3, PORTLAND 3: Kurt Heywood scored the tying goal 12:22 into the third from Matt Sanborn as the Clippers (2-2-1) tied Portland/Deering (3-2-2) at Portland.
Walter Lewandowski scored twice for Portland and made it 3-2 at 5:30 of the third, scoring from Camren King.
