SACO — Benedict T. Stubinski, 74, of Saco, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, in Scarborough.

He was born in Wausau, Wisconsin on July 23, 1943, a son of Benedict and Elizabeth (Punke) Stubinski.

On June 1, 1963, he married his wife Marsha Van Schoyck. Benedict served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years. He sailed on many ships including the USS Fortify, USS Execel, USS Exploit and the USS Killauea. While in the Navy, he earned the Vietnam Campaign Metal, three bronze stars and a Purple Heart.

In 1979, he and his family moved to Saco where he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Portland. He retired after 30 years of service as a maintenance supervisor.

Benedict had several hobbies including hunting, fishing, stockcar racing and RVing. He enjoyed sharing his adventures with family and friends. The family will cherish these memories forever. He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife Marsha, sons James Stubinski and his wife Jocelyn, Scott Stubinski, Lance Stubinski and Derik Stubinski and his wife Sara and five grandchildren Alissa, Ryan, Kyle, Logan and Brady. He is also survived by three sisters Janice Mattis and her husband Harry, Suzanne Dirks and her husband Ronnie and Carrie Stubinski-Zelazoski and her husband Ben and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. Burial will be at a later date.
