PORTLAND — Police are asking for help finding a 14-year-old Deering High School student missing since Jan. 27.

Hilda Vanessa Sanaguaray-Upaya, whose address was not released, ran away from family members around 8 a.m. in the area of the Northgate Shopping Center at 91 Auburn St., according to Police Lt. Robert Martin.

Sanaguaray-Upaya is 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 100 pounds, and has long black hair and brown eyes, Martin said. She was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans, and may be carrying a pink wallet. She lives in the North Deering neighborhood close to where she was last seen.

Martin said Sanaguaray-Upaya is also known to go by Valentina Diaz and Nelly Guaman on social media sites, speaks English and Spanish, and also goes by the name Vanessa. She has not been in contact with friends or family since she was last seen, and has not attended school. She was not carrying a cell phone when she fled, police said.
