Cocaine worth $31,000 on the street and $29,000 in cash were seized from a Lyman couple who were arrested Thursday night on the Maine Turnpike on charges of aggravated trafficking of cocaine.

Lisa Sullivan, 50, and Buck Papapetrou, 53, of 63 John St. were arrested by drug agents and Maine State Police, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, in a news release.

Police said the couple were connected to a large cocaine selling operation that had been under investigation for the past two months.

Maine Department of Drug Enforcement agents determined the couple drove frequently to Massachusetts to pick up cocaine and returned to their home to sell it. On Thursday, drug agents spotted the couple heading south on the turnpike and waited for them at the Maine border when they returned in the afternoon.

Police said the couple had 313 grams of cocaine and $8,358 in suspected drug proceeds.

The troopers searched their home in Lyman where they found another 2 grams of the drug and $20,872 in cash, anabolic steroids and two guns, police said. The street value of the seized cocaine was $31,000, police said.

The couple are being held at York County Jail on $25,000 bail each.
