BRUNSWICK — AARP Maine will offer free income tax help for low- and middle-income taxpayers with special attention to those 60 or older through April 17.

Participants need not be an AARP Maine member or a retiree to use the service, but need to bring a photo ID, Social Security card for themselves and dependents, W-2, 1099s, a copy of last year’s tax return and health insurance for everyone listed on the return. 

Sessions in Freeport will be held at Freeport Community Services at 53 Depot St. Wednesdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. by appointment only. Call 865-4743 ext. 100 to make an appointment. Calls are returned on Thursdays.

The Topsham Public Library at 25 Foreside Road will hold counseling Thursdays from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. by appointment, with walk-ins accepted. Call 725-1727 to schedule.

Brunswick and Bath each have two locations offering the service.

The Patten Free Library at 33 Summer St. in Bath will hold sessions on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. with no appointment required.

Bath Area Senior Center at 45 Floral St. will hold sessions Mondays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; no appointment required.

In Brunswick, Curtis Memorial Library will hold sessions Mondays from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Wednesdays from 3:30-7 p.m. and Fridays from 12:30-4 p.m. by appointment. Call 725-5242 ext. 510 to schedule; walk-ins accepted, time permitting. 

People Plus at 35 Union St. will also hold sessions on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m.-noon and Thursdays from 1-4:30 p.m. For an appointment call 729-0757; walk-ins will be helped if possible.
