In sworn testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, testified last week that no agency is leading the United States’ response to Russian election meddling. He also said Russia is poised to target the U.S. midterm elections later this year. What is going on here?

The Russians attacked our election system in 2016 and will do it again in 2018. But the chief executive of the United States of America, Donald Trump, does not consider this worthy of effective government response?

When Trump took the oath of office as president, he swore that he would “to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” And, now, we learn that he stands idly by as the Russians hack into the fundament of our democracy, our election system.

As I see it, he has violated his oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.” Does anyone care? What has happened to our country?
