FARMINGTON — A Mt. Blue Middle School student from Farmington was under house arrest after he was overheard making a threat to “shoot up the school,” police said.
A teacher heard the boy, 13, make the threat Tuesday and told Principal James Black.
The incident occurred at the end of the school day and the boy was picked up by a guardian, Deputy Police Chief Shane Cote said.
No weapon was found.
Cote and Regional School Unit 9 Resource Officer Bridgette Gilbert went to the guardian’s home to talk to the boy.
He was arrested on a charge of terrorizing and conditionally released to his guardian, Cote said. Both the guardian and the boy agreed to the conditions.
The student was suspended for 10 days, RSU 9 Superintendent Tom Ward said.
A risk assessment will be done by a medical professional to determine what to do about the student, Ward said.
The student could go before the school board for an expulsion hearing.
