Key players: Lake Region – Chandler True, sr., G (13.3 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 3.0 assists), Lauren Jakobs, sr., F (11.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists), Shauna Hancock, fr., G (9.1 points, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals); Winslow – Haley Ward, sr., G (10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals), Maeghan Bernard, jr., G (6.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals), Weslee Littlefield, jr., G (5.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals).

What Lake Region has to do to win: The Lakers, who last won a state title in 2014, win with defense. They force opponents into errors and challenge every shot. They’re going to have to do the same against Winslow, which like Lake Region, will push the ball in transition, then pull the ball out and set up if nothing is there. The Lakers have to get back on defense and pressure Winslow’s outside shooters. Offensively, look for Lake Region to try to get inside action with Jakobs, but also play an inside-out game with True, Hancock and Rachel Shanks, who hit a couple of huge 3-pointers in the regional final. Lake Region will take its share of 3s. The Lakers have to work to get rebounds and control the flow.

What Winslow has to do to win: The Raiders, who last won a state championship in 2005, may have a deeper bench, and that could factor into the outcome. Paige Trask, Silver Clukey and Weslee Littlefield give Winslow three solid perimeter shooters. Like Lake Region, the Raiders will push the ball and try to play an inside-out game if they have to set up in the half court. Defensively, they make you scramble. Look for them to concentrate on True, Jakobs and Hancock and make other players beat them. Rebounding will be a key. They cannot let the Lakers get second chances.
