There has been some talk and media coverage lately concerning the sharp increases in our electric bills.

I have been paying Central Maine Power bills for 52 years, and whenever their rate goes up they always have an excuse for it.

I keep a careful watch on my electricity consumption and I keep track of it on a monthly basis. I know what my bill was at this time last year and I am doing nothing different this year – but my monthly bills have increased by $50 this winter.

I called and complained but, as usual, they have an excuse for it. They said that I must have something constantly running that is drawing a lot of electricity. I think their billing machine is drawing its fair share as well while printing the bills.
