To quote the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”

Those who argue that the Second Amendment guarantees the right of everyone to keep and bear arms totally ignore the context of “a well-regulated militia.” The recent killing of 17 people at a Parkland, Florida, school is just one example of the numerous rampages that have occurred over the last several years.

I would argue that we must specify regulations for the bearing of arms similar to those for driving vehicles and flying airplanes, because of the potential risk of injury and death. Specifically, we need to require a minimum age, background checks, training, testing and licensing before one can own or use any kind of firearms.
