On Wednesday, Gov. LePage described the death of a 10-year-old child killed by her mother and stepfather as “a comedy of errors.”

The Press Herald reported that the governor told News Center Maine (WCSH/WLBZ): “In this particular case it’s a comedy of errors, both at DHHS (the Department of Health and Human Services), CDS (Child Protective Services), the mandatory reporters from the schools, law enforcement. Everybody here messed it up.”

Do words have no meaning anymore at all? This is shocking, and the governor is a disgrace. I heard this with my own two ears and still can’t believe he said it.

“A comedy”? The killing of a 10-year-old girl, “a comedy”? The governor must apologize to the family of the dead child, especially her surviving siblings, and the people of Maine.

Can the election come soon enough? I think not.
