I would very much like to hear columnist Jim Fossel (“No need to curb gun rights in Maine,” March 4) explain how rigorous background checks on gun purchasers curtails their “freedom.”
I would, furthermore, love to hear him explain his “right” to own a weapon specifically designed to rapidly slaughter large numbers of human beings.
In the wake of so many gun-related tragedies, it is stomach-churning the way he sneers at Democratic legislators trying to do the right thing.
