AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Sam Troiana singled in Dylan Hapworth with the winning run in the ninth inning Sunday to give the University of Southern Maine a 3-2 victory against Salve Regina in a nonconference college baseball game.

Hapworth singled leading off the ninth and took second on Zach Quintal’s sacrifice for the Huskies (1-1).

USM twice rallied from one-run deficits. Devin Warren singled up the middle and eventually scored on Quintal’s bunt single to make it 1-1 in the fourth. After the Seahawks (2-2) retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, the Huskies made it 2-2 in the top of the fifth when Troiano doubled down the left- field line and came home on Kip Richard’s single up the middle.

Troiano finished with three hits, an RBI and a run.

TEXAS-RIO GRANDE VALLEY 7, MAINE 3: Anthony Gomez drove a bases-loaded triple to right-center, capping a five-run third inning as the Vaqueros (10-7) broke a scoreless tie against Maine (4-11) at Edinburg, Texas.

Danny Casals had two of Maine’s seven hits.

ST. JOSEPH’S 8, WESTFIELD STATE 7: Joey Murphy scored the tying run on a double play before Jacob White doubled in Ben Gravel as the Monks (5-5) used a two-run seventh to take an 8-7 lead over Westfield State (2-4-1) at Winter Haven, Florida.

White hit three doubles in the game, and Jared Gagne and Chris Gerossie each had three hits and a run for the Monks.

SOFTBALL

MINNESOTA-MORRIS 6, BATES 4: Lacey Sullivan and Kallie Wycoff hit RBI singles as the Cougars (2-8) broke a 3-3 tie with a six-run sixth against Bates (9-3) at Clermont, Florida.

Julia Panepinto tripled home a run and scored for a 2-0 Bobcats lead in the first. Abra Kaplan came home on an error to make it 3-0 in the fourth. Bates added a run in the seventh on Payton Buxton’s sacrifice fly.

BATES 7, RIPON 1: Payton Buxton doubled home three runs during a five-run fourth inning as the Bobcats (9-2) pulled away from Ripon (2-5) at Clermont, Florida.

Buxton finished with five runs driven in, including an RBI single in the first and and a run-scoring groundout in the sixth.Caroline Bass had two hits and scored twice for Bates, and Andrea Russo registered an RBI and a run.

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 6, MAINE 2: Jenn Jansen broke a 2-2 tie with a third-inning homer, and Kylie Decker tripled home two runs and scored on a fly out in the sixth to give the Salukis (13-9) a victory over Maine (4-11) at Tampa, Florida.

Rachel Carson had three hits for the Black Bears. Erika Leonard added a pair of singles, an RBI and a run.

SUFFOLK 7, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4: Devlin Frost laced a two-run double in a six-run second for Suffolk (2-1) against the Nor’easters (0-1) at Clermont, Florida.

Avery Alberghini had a two-run double, and Sam Dreissig and Alexis Kapsambelis also drove in runs for UNE.

COAST GUARD 13, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4: Casey Cruzpino sent a two-run double down the line during a seven-run second inning and scored during a five-run fifth as the Bears (3-0) beat UNE (0-2) at Clermont, Florida.

Caty Flagg drove in two runs for the Nor’easters. Avery Alberghini had an RBI and a run.
