Here’s hoping the weather will not hold back the courageous students who choose to protest the politicians’ unwillingness to take sensible action to prevent any more gun deaths in our schools.
It seems fear is sown here not by foreign terrorists, but by homeland fanatics emboldened by the National Rifle Association and politicians who will not have the guts to ban or even restrict the weapons of war. Needless to say, the climate of fear has been enabled by the incivility of our governor and president.
Thanks to Sara Gideon for her heartfelt words as a mother and citizen in her column “As Maine’s young people press for action on gun violence, we are listening” (March 13, Page A5). Let’s stand with her and the students on Wednesday.
