In your Feb. 16 editorial, titled “Our View: We are not helpless to stop gun violence,” you made many compelling points, but you left out an often-neglected fact: Almost without exception, it is men who commit these heinous acts of violence.
It is also men who are responsible for most domestic abuse, violent crime, sexual abuse and harassment, child abandonment, pedophilia, public hate speech, etc. If we look at the conditions that make for an unsafe and uncivil society, men are responsible for nearly all of them.
Making our society safer and more civil for everyone is complicated, but maybe we can make progress by turning to women for ideas and leadership, since so many men keep failing to make things better.
