Palm Sunday program features hymns by request

The First Congregational Church of Kennebunkport, 141 North St., will offer a Palm Sunday Hymn Sing Concert at 2:30 p.m. on March 25 to observe Holy Week.

The event continues the series of community concerts begun by the church two years ago, and it will be the third concert to feature hymn singing. All are invited to attend.

The hymns will include pre-selected songs and requests, including organ pieces and vocal solo hymns.

EAST ORLAND

Forum offers insight into water preservation

A Water Quality Protection Forum will be held from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery at 306 Hatchery Road.

Attendees will learn about rights-based ordinances that could help citizens protect groundwater, with a focus on Hancock County.

‘How to Garden and Not Hurt Later’ held Wednesday

Osewantha Garden Club of South Portland will hold its business meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the South Portland Community Center, 21 Nelson Road.

Afterward, Kim Knappi of Back in Motion will give a presentation titled “How to Garden and Not Hurt Later.”

Students will offer take on ‘The Wizard of Oz’

Wells Junior High School student drama members will offer three performances of “The Wizard of Oz: Young Performers’ Edition” this week, featuring a cast and crew of more than 60 students from fifth through eighth grade. The interpretation of the classic children’s tale became a Broadway play in 1903 and toured for nine months before becoming a major motion picture.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. All shows take place at the school’s Ward Gymnasium on Route 1.

Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. Refreshments and snacks will be sold.

Public invited to learn ways to manage Highland Lake

The Highland Lake Leadership Team, a partnership of the Towns of Falmouth and Windham and the Highland Lake Association, will host a public forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Windham High School to discuss the health of Highland Lake, including the bacterial bloom recorded the past few summers, and how residents can be stewards of the lake.

KITTERY

Community center hosts annual Easter egg hunt

The Kittery Community Center will host its 2018 Easter egg hunt on March 24, offering Easter eggs and candy for children ages 2 through 10 at Shapleigh Field, 43 Stevenson Road.

The hunt designed for ages 2 through 5 will begin at 9 a.m., followed by a hunt for ages 6 through 10 at 10 a.m. Children will get to have their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny.

Parental supervision is required. The event is free and registration is not required. In the event of inclement weather, the hunt will be cancelled.
