Thank you for the article March 18 that emphasized the perspective of many Maine gun owners (“Feeling misunderstood, even demonized, 5 Maine gun owners speak out“).
I have no problem with guns for hunting or security at home, points emphasized in the article. What does upset me is the availability of assault weapons. These are weapons of war that have no purpose except to kill many human beings as efficiently as possible.
When I am marching against gun violence to the Capitol this Saturday, I will not be marching against all guns. I will carry a sign that says “Ban Assault Weapons.” And I plan to vote against any politician who does not support that goal.
