NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Gage Feeney combined with two relievers for a three-hitter Sunday and lead the University of Southern Maine to a 5-2 victory against Nichols in a nonconference college baseball game.

Feeney allowed one hit – a leadoff single in the first – before retiring 13 straight. Nichols (5-8) got two unearned runs in the fifth off Feeney, who ended with two strikeouts, a hit and no walks over seven innings.

The Huskies (6-5) totaled 15 hits, led by Andrew Hillier’s four singles. Devin Warren had three hits, and Sam Troiano, Jason Komulainen and Zach Quintal added two apiece.

Troiano’s double was the only extra-base hit. Quintal scored twice and drove in a run.

BATES 4, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 3: Pat Beaton’s RBI single – the Bobcats’ only hit –capped a four-run ninth inning as Bates (3-6) slipped past the Corsairs (9-3) at North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

Connor DiVincenzo began the winning rally when he was hit by a pitch. After Noah Loughlin and Leo Watson walked, DiVincenzo scored on an unsuccessful fielder’s choice before Jack Arend was hit by a pitch. Kyle Carter’s grounder drove in the tying run before Beaton’s single.

ST. JOSEPH’S 9, MIT 4: Luke Johnson drove in three runs as the Monks (6-5) cruised past the Engineers (4-4) at Worcester, Massachusetts.

St. Joseph’s broke a 2-2 tie by scoring three runs in the fifth inning. Johnson drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Monks ahead 5-2.

Joey Murphy added three hits, two runs and two stolen bases for St. Joseph’s.

Zach Begin picked up the win, allowing five hits and one earned run with six strikeouts across 42/3 innings.

SOFTBALL

WELLESLEY 6, COLBY 2: Julianne Gribbin had three hits and scored a run, and Julia Warner struck out 12 for Wellesley (1-4) against the Mules (0-1) at Clermont, Florida.

Gen Brittingham’s steal of home capped a three-run fourth inning as the Blue opened a 5-0 lead. Colby scored twice in the fifth when Julia Saul came home on Ella Hommeyer’s bases-loaded walk, followed by Lauren Niemiec getting hit by a pitch to score Vanessa Warshaw.

WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT 4, COLBY 1: Sydney Opdahl hit an RBI double and Payton Mix added a two-run single as the Pointers (7-8) beat Colby (0-2) at Clermont, Florida.

Stevens Point scored twice in the second and fourth innings before the Mules rallied for a run in the seventh when Lucie Cunningham drew a two-out walked, stole second and scored on Hailey Rohall’s single.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 17, WELLESLEY 0: Kendall Smith had three goals and three assists as the Mules (4-3) beat Wellesley (0-7) at Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Bridget Horwood and Banks Dotson added three goals and an assist each, and Sasha Fritts also had three goals. Grace Crowell, Lyla Jones, Emma Banks, Kate Burkett and Gwen Geisler also scored.

Fritts gave Colby a 1-0 lead 35 seconds into the game, Smith added a goal 33 seconds later and Crowell scored 1:42 after that.
