Every April more than 500 community members come to Yankee Lanes and the Bowling Bowl, Brunswick to support the local mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bath/Brunswick. Bowl For Kids’ Sake is the non-profit’s largest annual fundraiser.

In 2017, $83,000 was raised through event participants, their donors and many business sponsors, a new record amount for the organization.

This year’s super herothemed event takes place April 6 and 7 and includes a special High School Galactic Bowl with teams of students from Brunswick High School, Hyde School and Mt Ararat High School.

Bowling teams are raising pledges from the community and include business support from nearly three dozen business including The Times Record, in addition to family and friend teams.

“Bath/Brunswick and Midcoast is an exceptional community of caring people that continue to support our work every year,” Big Brothers Big Sisters Executive Director Lindsay MacDonald said. “This support is what makes are programs for local at-risk youth possible. We are truly grateful for this outpouring of love and kindness and we look forward to a huge party of super heroes on April 6 and 7.”

This year’s entertainment includes music from Eighth Street Entertainment, and guest emcee Tamara Lilly of “Let Me Do The Talking.”

Last year, BBBS of Bath/Brunswick served 284 children and supported 18 School and Site-Based mentoring programs. The local program, now in its 37th year , matches youth facing adversity in one-to-one mentoring relationships with caring older student and adult Big Brothers and Sisters.
